ANNUAL GIVING (6 Funds)

The General Fund (also known as the Redcoat Enrichment Fund) has been created to help support the ongoing operations of the Redcoat Band. This fund is used in a priority manner by the Directors to cover important projects that would not be possible without this resource.

Also, this fund is used for Silver Instruments and Scholarships.

The Auxiliary Fund was set up to benefit the current Majorettes, Georgettes and Flagline organization. Funds are used based on the priorities set by the leadership team.

The Roger L. Dancz Memorial Scholarship Fund was created as a tribute to the Director of the Redcoats who served UGA for 35 years. His leadership and musical contributions positively affected students in Georgia and around the world.  Money is designated annually for student scholarships.

Ruth Kiney Memorial Scholarship / Award Fund Ruth Kiney was Secretary of UGA Bands from 1975 – 1995.  During her time serving in this capacity, Ms. Kiney became known as the “mom away from home” to the members of the Redcoat Band.  Her strength, courage,  dignity, caring and encouraging spirit touched the lives of all Redcoats with whom she came in contact.  During her 20-year tenure as UGA Bands Executive Assistant and “mother of the Redcoat  band,” Ms. Kiney was known to say that caring for the Redcoats was “more than a job” to  her; it was a “way of life.”  In memory of Ms. Kiney’s passion for the well-being of the members of the Redcoat Band, the Ruth Kiney Memorial Scholarship / Award is intended to provide  an annual award to a UGA Redcoat Member who exhibits the same encouraging and caring  qualities of Ms. Kiney, often putting the well-being of other Redcoats above his/her own. The initial funding of the Ruth Kiney Scholarship will be held by RBAA, Inc. as a non- endowed scholarship fund, with monetary awards funded annually, based on contributions, if a worthy candidate has been identified and selected by the RBAA Scholarship Committee.

Next Phase includes an 500-seat viewing stand, a conditioned storage building and an open pavillion. The viewing stands will provide the Redcoats space for seated rehearsals and continue the tradition of local Athens visitors, recruits and alumni enjoying the band as they prepare for games.  The storage has been a priority need for years as the relocation of instruments and equipment wears on the budget and items.  A covered pavilion provides a covered rehearsal area for smaller groups in inclement weather.
